Little Mascot

I recently discovered that I could make a tutu WITHOUT any sewing required and for fairly cheap! After doing some quick research online, I felt confident enough to give it a try. I lucked out and bought some tulle at Joann's Fabric on sale for 88 cents/yard (it's normally $1.49/yard) so I bought lots of colors; blue, white, black, pink, and orange. I originally wanted to make a pink and orange tutu and then decided it would be fun to make a CHS (blue, black, white) tutu for the basketball games.

Anyways, after about an hour of tutu making, I finished it! And I'm happy to say that it actually turned out cute! Trust me, I'm just as surprised as you are. After buying the tulle and elastic for the waist band, I spent about $5 and one hour on the tutu. Not bad huh?

She loved the horse...as long as he didn't touch her!

I attempted the CHS tutu first because we had a basketball game tonight that I wanted to take her to for a test run. And let me just say, she was the star of the show! Everyone's eyes, even the refs, were on Brinkly and her cute little outfit.

I love to see the temple...

Brett and I have been preparing for this day for quite some time now. Today we got to go inside the temple and take out our endowments! I've been anxiously excited for a few days now, and couldn't wait to enter and spend time in the Lord's house. The spirit in the temple is so strong, there really is no other place like it. It's been far too long since I've been in the temple, but we plan on making visits there as often as we can. It is definitely a place of peace, love, and learning. My heart is still full and overwhelmed by all the strong feelings that come with being inside of the temple.

My favorite part were the blessings received during initiatories and entering the Celestial room where I met my family. There is no other feeling like it and my heart swells when I think about how amazing it was to be there.

We both had an amazing experience and are so thankful for our family who was able to attend and support us on this special day. Those who were able to come include my parents, who served as our escorts, my grandparents, Cori, Nolan, and Tirzah. It was such a wonderful feeling to be able to see and spend time with our family in the Celestial room.

Going to the temple has strengthened my testimony so much and I can't wait to go back. I know this church is true and that we have a Heavenly Father who loves us and wants us to return to him. I'm so thankful for the temple and for it's blessings and promises it gives us. I'm so thankful for our Savior and for his sacrifice he provided so that we may repent of our sins and make our way back to the Celestial Kingdom. I'm also thankful for my family and for the plan of Salvation. I just have so many things that I have been blessed with in my life!

Now we're only one step away from being sealed together for time and all eternity. I can't wait!!!

BR's

My awesome aunt Tirzah has been our personal photographer since our wedding :) She has done our wedding pictures, family pictures, and now these! We love her and her work and we're so thankful for her mad photography skills. Other than our wedding, we didn't really have many other photos of just Brett and I together...until now! We took the indoor ones at the Denaina Center and the others were taken around Eagle River. I love all of these pictures and think they turned out great! Here are a few of my favorites (and below you can see the full slide show):

Priestood & Party

Today was a big day for Brett. He has been very excited about this for a while now. Brett was ordained an elder. My dad ordained him and he had quite a few family and friends stand in; My dad, Grandpa, Chuck, Nolan, Joe Eichorn, Bishop Spackman, Mike Quimby, and Andy Lay. After Brett was ordained, Colton was set apart as a member of the seminary council so Brett was able to stand in. He's already putting his new priesthood into good use!

Later on we took pictures with Tirzah (to be posted soon) and then went up to my parents' house to celebrate my mom's birthday! We threw her a coupon birthday party! My dad and siblings decorated the house with ads and coupons and I made her a swag bucks cake. We also made her a little video tribute :) I think she liked her little party. Happy 43rd mom!!! :)

This is what a swag buck looks like,

Brink-GROWL-y

Brinkly has always had this "growl" thing that she has done ever since she was only months, maybe even weeks old. She especially likes to do it when she's in her car seat. I find it hilarious. Tonight it was particularly growlish. And if you're wondering what she's holding, it's a Stitch stuffed animal that she's obsessed with (I rediscovered it when I opened up at that tub of mine that was being stored in my parents' shed). It's her car buddy. He keeps her company in the back seat.

I guess it wasn't meant to be...

So my dress came in. And I'm so so so sad to say that it's not going to work out. Sigh. It looked all pretty in it's see-through bag and I was so excited to try it on. After putting it on it seemed like it was going to fit but I didn't know for sure until it was laced up in the back. My mom was going to lace it up for me, but said that it wasn't close enough to even make an attempt. I even took it down to a seamstress to see if they could do anything for me, but she said that she couldn't alter it because of the way the dress is designed. Ugh. I know dub this dress as "the almost dress." So yeah, I've gotta ship the dang thing back now. I'm feeling really discouraged at this point. I don't have a dress, I lost about $75 just to get the dress shipped/reshipped/restocking fee, and I'm running out of time to find a new dress that's within my price range. Frustrating. But who knows, maybe this is a blessing in disguise? I actually didn't totally LOVE the way the dress fit on me around the shoulder area, so maybe this happened because I'm going to come across an even better dress? I sure hope so! Either way, I'm supposed to be looking forward to this vacation and now I'm just stressing out over it. Not cool.
